The results of user test

v  Clear differences between maps

17 out of the 20 volunteers recognized the differences between both maps. This is a very good result imagining that a subtle difference is noticeable.
vRecognition similarities between symbols and shopping/cultural activity

Not all symbols in the same group where clear to each specific activity. But all the icons together as one group made it clear for the respondents the coherence with the shopping or cultural route.

To figure out which technique is the best to influence the direction of the respondents, different maps were shown.
 Saturation

Transparency

 Shadows
v  Understanding of pointed direction
Among the volunteers, 3 techniques (saturation, transparency and shadows) have been used. The most confusion was caused by using shadows. It was not clear where to start. The best technique was using transparency. Therefore transpiration will be applied in the final design.

  1. Very nice comparison among the 3 techniques, for me I also think the transparency is the clearest one~

The first result is very clear, but the second one(vRecognition similarities between symbols and shopping/cultural activity) is not very clear... What question did you ask the viewer? What is the purpose of this question....?What data did you get, the number...?

Did you test the culture route or shopping route really work to the viewers?..a little bit confused....

  2. Hey xiaoshi,

we understand the confusion. The is some data missing in the test results. First of all we tested each route among 20 respondents. Half of the respondents (10) for each technique had presented route P and the other half route K.

The data will be updated with numbers indicating clockwise and anti-clockwise.

    team X
