Development of Initial ideal 1

These are the first concepts for the pedestrian maps to explore the City Center of Delft.

Both the maps start from the Central Station of Delft and show two different versions, one clockwise for the ‘Museum Route’ and one anticlockwise for the ‘Shopping Route’. The ‘Museum Route’ is the map you can find with the name ‘Route K’. The ‘Shopping Route’ with ‘Route P’.

Concept 1

What we implemented in the first concept is a gradient of color. This gradient is showing the subtle differences in the clockwise and anti-clockwise route.  Furthermore the important spots in the city center have been transformed in 3D objects. This will not only draw more attention to the readers, but it also functions simultaneously as a landmark. The red dots next to the important buildings indicate the tourists to be aware and look around on the map for the specific activity / landmark.
The shopping bag should not be visual on the final design, it was just a temporary filling for a ‘shopping activity’. Otherwise it would be to obvious what is the shopping route.

  1. The idea of the gradient of color is smart but we are allowed to only use the image itself to tell the sequence....maybe...we have the same problem in our design...

  2. Hey Team X.

Here you use realistic pictures which seem useful to travellers in recognizing the important places in Delft. Some of these pictures are not easy to recognize such as the market place. You could use clearer pics for the marketplace and shopping mall to illustrate these places more efficiently.

The station is also difficult to identify at first. This might have to do with its similarities to all the other pictures that look alike.

It is clear that you have used a gradient between dark and light green dots to influence the travelers to take either route. the dark green dots are more dominant than the light green dots in relation to the white background which has a stronger pop out effect.
    This is a good choice.

It is difficult to see which red dot is representing which place. Perhaps you could make a stronger connection between these red dots and pictures in question.
